Blackfire Redesign - Colored

My 'Redesign' of Blackfire (Komand'r) from the animated series Teen Titans.



First off, i decided to give Blackfire's eyes 'duel shades' of color
(both the 'whites' and 'retnas' of her eyes are different shades of purple)
much like Starfire and other Tamaraneans Green Eyes are like on the cartoon.

my reasons being that since Blackfire is a full tamaranean
(and, ALL tamaraneans have duel colored eyes), then SHE needed them, too.

otherwise, she seems too much like a Human.



Another noticable change is her costume.

on the show, Blackfire wore a black-and-silver outfit
(the silver covered most of her body, almost like armor)

after watching the "origin" episode 'Go'
in which Starfire wore a similair outfit when she was a Gordanian Slave/Prisoner
I concluded that this was more of 'prison outfit', which i didn't paticually care for.


instead, i gave Blackfire a more traditional Tamaranean Outfit (Purple)
but, keeping up with her dark character, i purposely colored it DARK Purple, rather than Bright Purple.



It should be worth pointing out that in my Teen Titans Canon ('On Dark Wings')
i reimagined Blackfire as a victim of prejudice, rather than a heartless, cruel villain.


On the show, pretty much ALL Tamaraneans have Orange Skin, Dark Red Hair and Green Eyes.
Blackfire seems to be the only one with Yellow Skin, Black Hair and Purple Eyes.

in the canon i envisioned, Blackfire's people (and, her own parents)
believed her to be 'imperfect' due to her appearance, a Freak of Nature.

i added to this by coming up with the notion
that Blackfire gains her strength from Lunar Rays (The Moon)
rather than Solar Rays (The Sun) like most tamaraneans do.


coupled with the fact that Tamaran was attacked
by hostile aliens on the very day of her birth (and, Royal Dedication.)
which led to the destruction of the city of Kysaar, killing thousands...

well, pretty much ALL of Tamaran considered Blackfire a CURSE upon them all
(and, quite possably abused, harassed and otherwise tormented her to no end.)

this is the main reason why she was DENIED the royal birthright
and, said right was given to the next child born: Starfire/Koriand'r.


and, contrary to popular belief..i think at first, Blackfire was a GOOD sister.

she probably tried to prove herself to her already distant parents.
by playing with starfire, nurturing her, doing anything and everything for her
(only to be punished for being incontact with her..and, promptly ignored.)




Ironicly, Blackfire's 'difference' was suppose to be a Blessing, not a curse.

in my canon, Tamaran's sun is dying..
severely limiting standard tamaraneans strength and abilities.

so, X'hal (the Goddess of Tamaran) decided to 'save' the tamaranean race
by bestowing upon them the first of a new species of tamaranean.

Blackfire was the first, X'hal's gift to her people.
yet, the tamaraneans treat this "gift" as a curse, and hate that which should be giving them hope.



on an added note, an old enemy of the royal family
purposely orcastrated the 'Attack on Kysaar' during Blackfire's birth
specifically so the superstitious tamaraneans would turn against her.




Most would believe that Blackfire is a monster, Heartless and Cruel.
but, what she is really..is an innocent victim of abuse, prejudice and tragedy.
